How to turn one emotionally charged product result into a repeatable creator format.
Starla did not make astrology itself the content. It made the moment when someone sees a supposed portrait of their soulmate the content. That distinction matters: features are difficult to distribute, while visible reactions, predictions and social comparisons give creators a story they can repeat.
Starla is an astrology and relationship app with a feature that generates a portrait of a user's supposed soulmate. An industry campaign breakdown attributes more than 65 million TikTok views, 200,000 downloads and over $300,000 in revenue to the campaign built around this feature. Its largest cited video reached 16 million views.
Those numbers are campaign estimates reported by Playkit, not audited financial disclosures. The useful lesson is therefore the mechanism behind the distribution, not the precision of the attribution.
The product creates a visual result that a viewer understands immediately. A creator can reveal the portrait, compare it with someone they know and react without explaining the underlying app flow.
The highest-performing cited video used the premise “I think my best friend is my soulmate” and reportedly reached 16 million views. The narrative question appears before the product explanation.
List every result your product produces: an image, score, diagnosis, ranking, transformation, forecast or recommendation. Choose the one a stranger can understand in under two seconds. Build the video around the human reaction to that result; show the interface only as proof.
“Generate a soulmate portrait” is a product action. “Does this look like my boyfriend?” is a social question. The second version invites viewers to judge, disagree and tag someone.
