Chapter 1 — The Setup: Why Distribution Beat Product

AI shipped its own bottleneck.

For two years, "build faster" was the unlock. Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable, Replit Agent — pick any combo, and a competent founder can ship a working AI photo editing app in a weekend. Color correction, background removal, restoration, ageing, hair-swap, ex-removal — every feature is a model call away. The product side of AI photo got commoditized in 2024-2025.

Distribution didn't.

If anything, distribution got harder. Every AI photo app launches into a category where the top 5 apps already own:

A new app can match Lensa's output quality in 72 hours. Matching Lensa's reach takes months and a six-figure budget — or a network you already own.

This is the context the campaign was built in.

The client.

An AI photo editing app shipping standard features in the category — color enhancement, photo restoration, background removal, light retouching. Strong product. Quality output. No moat. The product team kept asking the same question every AI photo founder asks at some point: "Why are we shipping faster than ever and growing slower than ever?"

Because shipping faster only matters if people see what you shipped. And nobody was seeing it.

The campaign in one paragraph.

We built a content strategy around the use cases most likely to spread, wrote modular creator briefs that didn't require us to babysit each shoot, activated a creator network we'd been building for 18+ months across mobile-app verticals, and deployed thousands of videos across TikTok, Reels, and Shorts simultaneously. The result was the kind of organic curve every AI app founder wants and almost nobody gets without paid spend behind it.
